Here's what each season actually looks like at Pinnacle Lifestyles resorts: weather, crowds, and pricing.

“When should we go?” comes up more than almost any other question we get, and the honest answer is: it depends what you want out of the trip. Here's what each part of the season actually looks like across our seven resorts in BC and Alberta.

Early summer (May -June)

Lakes are cold but rising toward swimmable, trails are clear, and resorts are noticeably quieter than July and August. This is a good window if you want quiet. The pools aren’t quite open, usually they open around June 15th. The beaches have lots of room and if you don't mind cooler evenings. Booking is easier, pricing is lower and more flexible this time of year.

Peak summer (July–August)

This is when everything is running: pools open, events like movie nights and chocolate bingo are in full swing at resorts like Revelstoke, lake water is warm, and long weekends (like August Long Weekend) bring a real party atmosphere. It's also the busiest, highest pricing and hardest to book, especially at family-favorite spots. If you want peak conditions, plan to book 6 months out. You might get lucky a few weeks out but all the prime spots are gone.

Late summer (late August–September)

Kids head back to school, crowds thin out, but the weather is often still excellent — warm days, cooler nights, and lake temperatures that are still comfortable. This is a favorite window for retirees and couples who want the scenery without the school-holiday crowds, plus you get off season pricing, so its a great time to save.

Shoulder season (spring and fall)

Most of our resorts offer RV sites and seasonal lots outside the main summer window usually May 1st until Thanksgiving (mid October) — a good option if you're doing a slower Rockies road trip or you're a seasonal RV owner extending your stay. Availability and open dates vary by resort, so check directly before planning a shoulder-season trip.

If you're flying in from overseas

A lot of our guests visiting from overseas plan their trip around July and August specifically, renting an RV in Calgary or Vancouver and driving the Trans-Canada Highway through the Rockies before or after their stay. If that's your plan, book both the RV rental and your resort site well in advance — summer is peak season for RV rentals too.

May and late September are noticeably quieter than peak summer, with milder crowds and easier booking.

How far ahead should I book for summer long weekends?

A few months ahead is the safest bet for July and August long weekends, especially at family-popular resorts like Revesltoke, Sicamous and Mara Lake.

Are your resorts open outside of summer?

Yes, we open on May 1st at most of our resorts and we are even open all winter at our Revelstoke and Pinnacle Trails in Edson locations — opening dates vary slightly by resort, so check directly for shoulder-season dates.

How much is it to stay at a Pinnacle Lifestyles Resort?

Our rates vary by resort, accommodation type, and time of year. The best value is during our shoulder season (May–June and September–October), when stays start from just $45 per night for a tent site or $130 per night for a rustic cabin.

During peak summer (July and August), rates start at $65 per night for a tent site and $198 per night for a rustic cabin.
